A man can basically jam it in a woman and never see her again with at least a 50-50 shot at getting his genes passed down. He can take care of the kid, having two guardians helps the kid survive. That's why even men have a parenting instinct, but no where near as strong as women. A man's motivation is to bang as soon as possible. If a lead looks good, they'll be willing to wait months, as opposed to going after another target.
