How did you become a furry?

I turned into an animal lover when I got my first dog at age one. She was a sheepdog named Annabelle and we treated her to the finest gourmet she could fetch.
Now that I'm a lot older I recently got a pet dog n cat from PetSmart and they've been such a nice responsibility to keep up with.

What's y'alls backstories turnin into a furry?

My story changes every time the subject is brought up as I can never quite remember how I became a furry.

Was it that time I was bit by a radioactive furry one night?

Was it that time I was bent over the table by a man in an animal costume?

Or was it that time I encountered Bigfoot?

Who knows, but I am one now so there's no denying it. But careful, it's contagious.

Seems like I had such a nice childhood.Reading stories, watching a lot of animated stuff. And all of this is no accident. Its just who I am,it describes me and I accept this gift even if some people might think that I am some kind of bloody freak that loves being a furry. That's why I love this "honesty of mind". That being said,my childhood turned me into a furry.Peace.

Long story about the internet ...

Just imagine if there was no internet in the first place.Worse than Hell.

No way Mr.!There must be something special that makes you a furry.A special moment in your life,a seed(maybe seeds) that grew in time and made the person you are today.

Mine's pretty bad, I suppose. I was exposed to furry porn a few years ago, and I liked it a lot. Took me a while to get away from just that stuff and get interested in the community for more than just porn. Not a glamorous way to join the community but it is how it happened. Now that I'm here I really enjoy talking to people and being myself, believe it or not, I'm pretty much an introvert when you meet me in person. This community has become a nice break from that for me.

My story is probably the most boring one. I can't remember if it was Disney or an anime that introduced me to anthromorphic animals. Then I started to research on the Internet. I liked the idea but all my friends were into anime (I never had furry friends) so we never talked about it but I have always sat on the outskirts of the fandom until recently.

Definitely a rabbit... 100%...
I just recently came out of the furry closet, so to speak.

I was in denial for years, then one of my art friends told me that I could make good money off furry commissions, so I tried it. I found that I really like drawing furries and I think I'll be okay so long as I stay on the SFW side.

For me, I was obsessed with the Krypto the Superdog cartoon as a kid. The idea of an animal that could talk just blew my mind. Then I found anthro characters (and the art that came with it) and I just really liked it. With a little more research, I found fursuiters and I knew that I wanted to be a part of the fandom

When I was in middle/high school, I was really into anime, manga, and Japanese culture. I would frequent Gaia online and roleplay a lot in their forums and such. I always dressed my avatar up as a bunny, and subsequently went by the nickname "Bunny"... because well, I love bunnies!!

I wasn't aware of the Fandom at that time, so I didn't really have a label to stick to myself. I grew out of my extreme interest in the stuff after a few years, when I got a job and my life got too busy to keep up with my internet personas (age 13-19ish)

It wasn't until later last year, when I got together with my bf, that I was "reintroduced" to the Furry Fandom/concept (just turned 27). He told me he was a Furry, and I poked my nose back into things and essentially can say that I identify as one too. Not a subject I freely discuss in my personal or professional life simply because of the ignorance on the subject and the negative "stigma" associated with it by those who would rather believe anything else instead of doing their own research on it... but that's why I am here, to have you guys to talk with and share stuff with and have a sense of "community".

Also, always have been interested in anthropomorphic anime and art. Been sketching it for as long as I can remember.

Growing up I've always thought werewolves were hot and eventually I went online and discovered furries and that's what did me in lol. As far as telling people I don't think its really any of their business. My best friend knows and we joke about it but everyone else Ive left in the dark lol. Everything furry about me basically keep it online.

Id say somewhere around the mid 90's. I was obsessed with drawing anthropomorphic foxes, rabbits, and such. Didn't really discover that there was a fandom until around 2005. Was a closet furry for over 10 years, as my ex hated the drawings. Been trying to redevelop the skill.

What kind of girlfriend or boyfriend hates the stuff their significant other is passionate about so much to make them quit doing it? That's just mean. I'm glad you're getting back into it. The world could always use more artists.

Found it through the internet, first heard of it as a type of porn around eight years ago. Found someone on a few months later Halo and asked them they thought it was just out of plain curiosity. He corrected me, turned out I already liked anthro's, even written about them already, and it's stuck ever since.

I said this before.

I heard bad things about this fandom and decided to check it out.

Found nothing wrong with it.

Showed my support by joining this fandom.

and here I'm am.

Great community btw.....

Super into anime and video games, before I knew it, I stumbled upon some anthro art and fell in love! :)
Recently, got into rping and only began to fall even in love with the fur fandom

I've always loved animals, both actual ones and animated ones. Not like, sexually, but generally speaking I relate a lot to them and their general subtlety in life. Unless they're Dragons or many species of bird. But I met a transfurry and even though I'm just about the least judgy in my family I HAD to do research and now I'm here. Three characters and counting. Lol.
