How do you beat the summer heat with no air conditioner?

It was 46 c yesterday (114f) and it was pure agony with only a small fan and a spray bottle to spray myself down with water from time to time.

What do you guys do to cool yourselves down when you don't have the luxury of ice cold air conditioning?

Beat Summer? I am against violence tho. D:

But seriously. We have days hitting 29C here. Granted it's not nearly as bad as your place, Foxy.

I just take a cold shower and at times and sit in my underwear.

Wet my shirt with ice water, ring it out then put it back on and have a fan on me. Drink cold drinks after a cold shower. Stay in the shade. Don't use hot electonics. Don't use the oven or heating elements...

If you can then go swimming...

46 degrees?! No, you must be lying.
You wouldn't be alive after that.

I am currently living in an icy shithole, where even in the height of summer, it barely gets above 10 degrees. I hate it, but I'd rather be too cold and have to try and get warm than be too hot.

Are you drinking cold water? If not I am deeply concern it is best to drink lots of fluids in those conditions.

I'm not lying, I live in Southern California and we're experiencing a massive heatwave

Stick a baking pan full of ice water in front of your fan so the air is blowing over it. Instant ghetto AC.

Also wet a few hand towels and throw em in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Take em out, wrap em around back of your neck, in armpits, and groin and you'll rapidly cool off.

Ah yes.
Whenever I start to feel like I miss California... I think for a second and realize no, I don't want to back. Not in the summer anyway.

Go to the lower parts of your house like the basement to hang out in. Scientifically speaking, heat rises, so upstairs areas are going to most likely be warmer.

Fans. Lots of fans.

I'm pretty tolerant to heat so. If you have a basement that's a good place to hang out.

I live in southern California, too. My current methods are a 20v fan pointing directly up in my room to get the circulation going, closing all of my curtains which are luckily heat trapping, and drinking plenty of water.

It was a funny sight yesterday, whilst on a trip to Home Depot for said fan, literally everyone I saw walking out had A/C units in their carts. Heat's no joke!

Funny, I'm going to head out to the store and get myself an air circulator fan later tonight. Then next week when I finally get paid I'm going to order an evaporative cooler from amazon.

You can also cool down by putting a towel in your freezer and sleeping with it.
I'm quite sure there is such thing as a hot water bottle, but instead of hot water, it's cold. Wrap it in a towel and put it on the hot spots (pits, crotch, neck, face). Boom. Coolsville.

42 c in my room at the 6:42pm mark. Little doggo is sitting on blanket I folded on floor and is staring at me with his tiny puppy eyes while panting. He's toughing it out pretty well. I just hope an evaporative cooler does it's job since So Cal is mostly dry heat with not much humidity.

Yesterday broke record heat and I work outside. 115 degree's oh no I ain't standing around in the sun all day. Where's my keys I'm sitting in the a/c until the weather is normal.

I'd probably just lay on the floor butt naked with a fan and a spray bottle.
