Personally I make names by just creating some random sound combination and changing it until I will be satisfied. Except my current nickname of course.

I know, it can be confusing, that place has been a seat of human civilization and culture back beyond 4000 BCE, and so the maps have changed over time.

Yeah, it's an interesting area for sure. These days it's not exactly the most stable place to live, probably.
Yeah, it's a real pity. This could have been a moment for civilization there in Mosul and Baghdad and elsewhere to flourish. It's as if someone really didn't want that and launched plans to ensure that they were kept down a la Latin America or something, at such cost to all sides, and for what? And we're still lied to endlessly about it. How about that.

Actually I think it would be easy to blame several factors - relatively bad climate, overly religious attitudes resulting in suppression of secular society, and a wildly fluctuating and corrupt political system.
