I burn hard money on this fandom

A'ight, so I do fairly well at my job and make decent wage. I try to put a lot of that money away into savings like a responsible adult, but also give myself a fairly healthy chunk of disposable income.

It's the 7th of the month, and I'm almost already out of that disposable!

What the hell did all my money go on?!

*£30 customs fee for an Exotic Erotics.
* $180 for a Bad Dragon inventory toy. I only went for the god damn lube and ended up leaving with a new one?!
* $160 on a artist collab project. Impulse purchase. Just wanted to have my character get banged by some hot ferals and that's another three figures gone

I need to seriously fucking stop. Between gabeN and my boner, my wallet's getting DP'd to the detriment of my savings.

Responsible adult. God fuck.

I'm the same way sort of, I tend to spend at least $25 every week or two on a piece of art... and every month usually a more expensive piece... this month is going to be my con badge for anthrocon ^-^ but yeah... quite honestly if I do want to get it diapers are quite expensive as well... #babyfurissues

Solution's simple: just stop buying games on Steam forever (and continue to go wild with the type of expenses you described above). I'm a genius!

i might have to do that @tranceguy , this was my first EE toy and it's fucking gorgeous, wow

Sounds like you're doing a better job since you're budgeting a certain amount each week. :p

Feel like I should set some ground rules for myself that I'm not allowed to break, but I KNOW I'll break them. Some artist or commissioner will come along and I'll be like HOLY FUCK TAKE MY MONEY and then weep tears of dollar regret

I used to be like that (albeit with Jurassic Park and Transformers toys and merchandise rather than sex toys and artwork)
I fear the day I ever make those mistakes again.

That said, I'd love to own a bad dragon... Only problem is I'm too chickenshit to have it delivered to my house for fear someone might open up my package and see I bought an exotic dildo.

I work as a library assistant for a university, so I get good benefits, but the pay isn't so hot. Well, I was an English major, so it beats flipping burgers.

That said, this month is the most costly one of the year, 'cause me and my mate are going to a furry con! But just in DC, and close to where I work. Biggest cost is the room, $260 for two nights, $90 for our two passes, and for the train/Metro, about $25, each, roundtrip. Plus food and stuff. We plan to make stuff to eat in our room this time; there's a Wal-Mart nearby, not my favorite store, but it'll save $$$.

Just have to remember to bring lube...with a furry con next door, they're sure to be sold out!

They are pricey but fun! A friend gave me a gift certificate one Christmas, and I got the Griffen, with tube...would love another different one, but woah, they are not cheap.

Next, I'm selling off some comics and stuff, and trying to raise $$$ for a fursuit, and also a second latex version of said suit: One for public/con use, one for the bedroom...and e-z cleaning, and 'cause it feels nice to wear.

Edit:

What are these terms 'savings' and 'responsible adult'? They are foreign to me. ;)

Hah!

Yeah, it sounds like we all agree that money spent on hobbies ain't money spent poorly. ;3

I mean, I'm glad, because holy hell do I have fun with the strange things I impulsively purchase -- but I'm such a poor planner that I actually FORGOT I'm headed to a 'con next month, too. >.<
Fuck me. I was supposed to put some money aside this month for that. Guess I'll be raiding the disposable budget that month, too. ♪

You lube up for that latex suit? How does that even work; diluted for volume or...

grrl never fear -- the post is discrete as fuck so it won't arouse suspicion, and they're so worth it.

I work a job that involves a lot of stress and a lot of pressure, and I get paid a pretty good wage myself. [$18.50/hour i think.]

I look at my check and think "holy shit. I can buy so much with this." and there is s o much that I want.

But I can't. Because I have to hold onto it and put it into savings so I can move.

I've only spent $50.00 in art this pay period. I'm proud of myself.

BUT I REALLY WANT A BAD DRAGON TOY. UUUUGH.

I think after I attend AnthrOhio next month (setting aside $350 for that) my sister's wedding in early June, and get my license in late June, I might just have to look into a bad dragon.

So much shit to take my $11/hour!

I think people go through phases like this then it calms down ;) but I get you.
I'm buying fursuit supplies right now and it just... Won't stop

Yeah I don't anymore right now because I'm moving at the end of the year and need the money but I hear you.

My plan is that I will get good at art some day and my characters will be drawn as fan art rather than me having to commission them >:3

But as for when I get old enough, and when I get my own place, I'll be off buying all these 'trinkets' online.

What DOES my username mean...?
Even if i had disposable income to blow, it wouldn't be blown on toys or art. i spend <$30 a year on art supplies even. if i made more money, i'd use the extra income to take time out of work to spend more time on the (free bits of the) fandom. Time is the most expensive part of any fandom so i'd throw my money at that instead.

I use to be a bit impulsive when I had my first job, growing up with not a lot of money, there was so much stuff I wanted to have but never could. Now, however, I've cut down on the amount of random stuff that I buy and gotten rid of a bunch of stuff I had (for example, I got rid of most of my DVD collection because I never really watched the movies). The only exception comes with owl stuff, if I find an owl object that looks fairly realistic, it's coming home with me.

Dude furries aren't the problem, its your sex drive. Go bang someone IRL and stop wasteing your time with yiff art and bad dragon

It's a hobby. That's what expendable income is for.

Not to mention, it's very possible to have that kind of hobby and have an active sex life at the same time.

You can spend your disposable income anyway you please, really. But if you think it's a problem, then budget what you spend. I didn't do it with furry stuff, but I had a spending problem when I got my first job. It slows down after a while, but if you don't think it will, then start setting a limit on how much you spend every week or something.

It's your money. If you're in a good enough situation that you can spend it frivolously, then go ahead, put don't forget to give yourself a few limits haha.

What about making a bank account where there is a weekly ammount send to from your main account so you could make yourself a limit... This is how i keep my money and not spend all for War Thunder ...man am I addicted

Perhaps pick up a different hobby that'll actually be more productive and worth while then furry art and sex toys. Lol.
I feel like this is the reason they have those "ADDICTED TO PORN?..WE CAN HELP' Billboards all over the place now.

There's nothing you can do but wait until the enjoyment of the "attention whore" part of the commissioning wears off, art wise. Sex toy wise, I can't say much for you.. xD

Since I got my job last year, minimum wage job, 9.25$ an hour, I've bought myself 4 bad dragon toys and I've spent over 2k for a trip to anthrocon this year. I'm currently residing with my parents still, whilst I'm also working with a full time college schedule, and the only bills I have to pay are for my phone. I really do need to cut down on my own spending though, but I am sure as hell excited for AC
