I literally think people who spam the forum about 'fucking clams' should be banned

What gives? What is this? I get so tired, seeing so many stupid troll threads here. Yes, hit ignore/block....I do....more and more. Still, it's just that dumb threads about 'fucking midgets and calms' exist, for so many days, and go on and on...

I guess. Still, seems to just make this place more and more unappealing, kinda a Lord of The Flies sorta thing.

and threads like:

forums.furaffinity.net: ABSOLUTELY FUCK 20 MIDGETS

and

forums.furaffinity.net: FUCK THE POLICE

by the same user & with the original posts edited/changed, months later

I just think that fun and all, there still needs to be a sense of decorum.

And this guy is still here? PG 13? Not inflammatory towards law enforcement, or short folks?

Slap my ass and call me Sally, but this baffles me, how long, such stuff goes on, here.

Here might be a controversial opinion: Block the person in question.

Simo addressed this attitude in the very first post in this thread.

There are actually a lot of reasons why blocking people isn't a solution here.
But these are the two 'captain obvious' ones:

-You can't report somebody you've blocked, so if everybody blocks spammers they might begin posting horrific pornography and we wouldn't be able to report it.
-Blocking a user who harasses you doesn't stop that user going on to harass other site members. Users who spam or harass should be banned.

Sorry Yaka, but with all due respect, I have to disagree with you on this one.

Blocking does not seem fitting in this instance since this only eliminates the problem being visible to yourself. While blocking may be effective against a user who is targeting you specifically, this is a problem that everyone is having to deal with.

Blocking unfortunately won't stop these threads from being made, and not everyone believes in blocking people. This won't stop them from spamming and it won't allow us to tell if they are posting anything pornographic or against the rules. If a user is irritating you but not breaking rules, block by all means friend, but when they are starting a lot of trouble like this, blocking them is not the best solution, but rather reporting them so the mods can deal with the issues.

Want to add on, I advocated blocking in the instances of religious and political Drama because the threads were honestly mixed. They weren't 100% dumpster fires, and the dumpster fires actually could have been avoided altogether if people blocked each other. That doesn't really work here.

Hmm... You have a point.

But are the ToS/CoC being broken though? If they aren't being broken, there's not much one can do. If you end up spamming the report button it can easily go under support ticket abuse, which is against the CoC/ToS.

If porn and/or other content that isn't PG-13 get posted you can report him for it, but it doesn't really apply to someone intentionally being annoying.

True, though I rarely use the report button anyway to be honest. I reserve it for things that are truly against the rules and that no doubt in my mind are worthy of the mods attention. I'd rather use such methods sparingly than abuse it and risk getting myself in trouble. Let's be honest, some people abuse the report button, and they don't realize how much of a pain in the ass it is for the mods to investigate the issue to find it didn't break any of the rules. I once even made this mistake myself.

Others might be a little more proactive in using the report button, and I'm fine with that so long as they are using it responsibly. I might take a look at the rules again to see what should and shouldn't be reported just to be sure.

Indeed. Use the report button responsibly.

The only active staff we really have here is Mewtwo, and I don't want to cause any unnecessary work for him.

@Some Moron nah dude, you're cool.

I can't help but think this nonsense could have been avoided if we had more mods. According to the timer I posted in the "Staff?" thread, it's been about 20 days since we were supposed to get new mods. Even if the process was just supposed to "start" 20 days ago.. that's still 20 days. More than enough time for some hiring. Especially when we've been asking for this for what feels like years. And now we have troll spam about clam fucking and have to wait for Mewtwo to get on to *maybe* fix the issue.

Awesome....

Call me pessimistic, but I never had faith in that to begin with.

I use that report button often. Even have had conversations with Mewtwo. He is a cool guy, who is definitely overworked! I have never had a problem with him or any other staff, even when it was I who was getting in trouble. Just be thankful that we have FAF! It could be worse, and we could just be stuck with Discord, or Reddit, or other shitty sites.
