Do think they have a rehab for something like this? If they don't someone needs to make one...

I agree with Luca. Someone needs to help people like me.

For awhile, I used to worry about this need to relapse from furry, but the more I thought about it, I realized "What exactly am I trying to get away from?" The people who quote-en-quote "quit furry" only ever seem to stop using certain websites, since they don't want to part with friends, and soon enough, they're back to using those sites again.

Furry is all about friends when it comes down to it. If you really want to throw out that entire group, then go ahead and look for greener pastures. Otherwise, it's a pretty silly practice. Perhaps I'll get sick of going to the same cities for conventions after a few years and move on, but I'd say I'm just starting to really enjoy this fandom.

Why do you feel a need to get away, anyway?

I really don't understand this whole deal about quitting furry. Is it because you're ashamed and think you need to 'improve' to some standard you've invented? Is it because you don't want to be associated with something the internet frames negatively? Is it because you had a bad experience with other furrys?

Dan.

Not here for the porn

I think that's the general idea, I mean, It's not something you would just go and blurt out "I am furry, people say we fuck animals but we don't really"

*sigh* I blame specific retarded people who make the fandom look bad. Take out the fetishes and zoo-wannabes and the majority of furries are actually pretty decent people who are just art enthusiasts or never out grew the 90s Disney period.

This is all true.

I guess some people "quit furry" in some attempt to save face with their friends or something

Is that sorta like giving up on MMOs and Anime in an attempt to break free of negative stereotypes?
I would think in that instance they would give it up in an attempt at not looking like a nerd or something, but neither of those don't really get it as hard as far as I can see.

Wow. You're irritating.

I think people get all depressed from the fandom because they have a hard time dealing with stereotypes. With furry being a subculture in a wider 'geek' culture, a lot of the people furrys would typically associate themselves with are out to burn them :(

like... a furry quits furry stuff to 'save face' with their nerd friends, and lets not forget their non-nerd friends who have only seen furry through CSI lol. Kinda reminds me of the anthro artists that try to distance themselves from the term "furry". Being a nerd is like a buffet of interests, and those with different interests than you fail at life. I think the whole thing is hilarious :p

The amusing thing is that if not for misinformation from the media, furrys would be percieved by non-nerds to be no worse than any other breed of geek.

Hey, Assbutt
Is it actually possible to relapse into this kind of thing. With the sheer amount of shite in the fandom, it should count as a prolapse.

People care too much about whether or not they are "a furry."

I like furry art but can't stand 99% of the people involved.

I don't seem to have this internal conflict so I don't see why everyone else should.
