If you don't want to be friends with, or even allow anyone who has autism to share your interests, it's your loss, but there's not a chance in hell you can force other people to shun furries in the autistic spectrum 'because I know this one girl with a learning disability who isn't an ideal person,'.

Your assumption is incorrect. Please do enlighten me, how is the expulsion of autistic people from society 'proper' behaviour and how does it prompt social progression? It might just be me, but I associate soical prudishness and ostracising people with learning disabilities with more...medieval societies.

I should be clear that I don't believe mentally retarded people should be exiled from society, they should just be naturally excluded from social circles. It's the paraphiles that I believe should be expelled entirely from society - or, really, just the behavior. Anyone could potentially suffer from retardation, and it's no one's fault, but indulging in sexual fixations is a choice. If you choose not to control your impulses like an adult should, then you are guilty of willful ignorance. Mindless indulgence is contrary to progress.

People who have autism, or are on the autism spectrum are not mentally retarded.
It's a pretty fuckin huge spectrum and you can find people ranging from gifted and genius to below average on there.

In short: could you at least bother to try and know what you're talking about?

Not one of the people you have mentioned have been conclusively diagnosed with any degree of autism. I don't think it's fair to presume that someone has a disorder that they have never been clinically diagnosed with, especially when it serves your argument or helps you sell a book.

The point is, streetcircus, that you can't assume everybody with autism is a deadweight to society, because such an assumption would be prejudicial.

Hence, knowing that being autistic doesn't equate to being 'degenerate' as you put it, it would be incredibly unfair to treat people with autism with an austere condescending 'better than you' demeanor.
