Now i"m all depressed about my old job at a flash studio

Anyway yes um

LISTS TO KEEP FURRIES OUT ARE BAD THINGS THIS STATEMENT IS ON TOPIC

Although sometimes I do feel like excluding some people from my bubble of reality, I think that everybody does. Not that it's OK, just, that we do it.

Guys relax, this thread was a joke. XD I don't really want this. I doubt anyone really does.
Oh and Streetcircus, I hope you were joking somehow too. I'm sick of people on here trying to set the world backward in time.
And Hipstercoyote, what does your art being abused have to do with this? XP

People are also entitled to prefer to socialize with some people rather than others, and people who have autism lack self-awareness that makes them unpleasant to be around. I'm sorry, but all people are not equal. Some people just have no appeal, and these qualities can be attributed to a disorder like autism. There is nothing criminal about it. There is a point where disorders can be considered exceedingly disruptive, and forcing this burden on everyone because of sentimentalism isn't fair to anyone. I know a retarded person too, and everyone seems to barely tolerate her. It just isn't ideal.

I imagine you have such a distaste for excluding others because you have experience being an outcast yourself. I have not had this problem, so I can't really sympathize. If you need for others to be excessively accepting to not be outcasted, then you haven't earned acceptance. Appealing to others is not something that can be forced. There is a natural system in place to encourage proper behavior, and it is essential for progression. Forcibly integrating these negative characteristics into our culture is degenerative, and there is no doubt that the mindless sexual fixations that are plaguing this fandom have no place in a thoughtful society.

I understand the original thread was a joke, I apologise if I'm 'stirring the pudding' by continuing this conversation, guys.

If you don't want to be friends with, or even allow anyone who has autism to share your interests, it's your loss, but there's not a chance in hell you can force other people to shun furries in the autistic spectrum 'because I know this one girl with a learning disability who isn't an ideal person,'.

Your assumption is incorrect. Please do enlighten me, how is the expulsion of autistic people from society 'proper' behaviour and how does it prompt social progression? It might just be me, but I associate soical prudishness and ostracising people with learning disabilities with more...medieval societies.

Next time, just simplify it to "they need to be locked up in an internment hall away from normal society". :V

I should be clear that I don't believe mentally retarded people should be exiled from society, they should just be naturally excluded from social circles. It's the paraphiles that I believe should be expelled entirely from society - or, really, just the behavior. Anyone could potentially suffer from retardation, and it's no one's fault, but indulging in sexual fixations is a choice. If you choose not to control your impulses like an adult should, then you are guilty of willful ignorance. Mindless indulgence is contrary to progress.

So it's not their fault, but we should ostracize them anyways?

Yeah that doesn't really make it any better.

People who have autism, or are on the autism spectrum are not mentally retarded.
It's a pretty fuckin huge spectrum and you can find people ranging from gifted and genius to below average on there.

In short: could you at least bother to try and know what you're talking about?

Indeed the autistic spectrum includes indiviuals such as Bill Gates, as well as posthumous diagnosies of Andy Warhol, Charles Darwin and Socrates.

Not one of the people you have mentioned have been conclusively diagnosed with any degree of autism. I don't think it's fair to presume that someone has a disorder that they have never been clinically diagnosed with, especially when it serves your argument or helps you sell a book.

The point is, streetcircus, that you can't assume everybody with autism is a deadweight to society, because such an assumption would be prejudicial.

Counter examples are numerous: http://www.toptenz.net/top-10-autistics-known-today.php http://www.child-autism-parent-cafe.com/famous-people-with-autism.html

Hence, knowing that being autistic doesn't equate to being 'degenerate' as you put it, it would be incredibly unfair to treat people with autism with an austere condescending 'better than you' demeanor.

In such a situation it would be very clear who is actually socially impaired.
