Improve protection againt adult content for minors

Taking fact that there was (and i guess there still is) some complains about members (usually minors) falsifying their age just to acces adult content which is obviously not something good and I think the staff should take more strict measures against it as the current system is just not enough and way too easy to bypass. I know, I know that sometimes they succed to catch some smart ones but still. Although it is morely the parents resposibility to keept their kids away from such content, I think we all agree on the fact that the staff could make more for this. I dont think that anyone would like that their childs acces yiff content so yeah...
Just my personal opinion thought

If porn sites can't do that, than what makes think this site can?
The question is not only on it but on the fact that it should or else they would get in trouble for letting minors easily acces adult content. Porn sites are already another category imho

clearly people should need to send in their passport and a dna sample in order to upload their crappy ms paint drawings

What would they do, they can't go visitthe user to check their age, there really is no possible way to moniter this without haveing the user show some sort of legal identification to prove their age.

There's no way to do anything like this without hindering freedoms.

You don't hate freedom, do you?

At least they could make improvement to faster age lock users clearly spotted as falsifying their age to acces adult content

Say what now?
It's not like they can make a Captchya when someone registers that can ween out minors falsifying their age. If you want fA to do something, what do you suggest they do?

If the minor checks a box saying they are over 18, the legal responsibility lies with the minor. The website only ever got the information that the new user was over 18, so it's not their fault if the user turns out to have been lying.

No

The censors required for minors are at times ridiculous and strengthening them just because people know how to crack the system is ridiculous.

So nononono

If it hasn't been made clear, the responsibility is for the minor, not the site.

Not even the system SecondLife have to check for minors is good
really, they went as far as asking you for (if you are in the us) a state ID number
nothing really stopping the young'un to "borrow" mommy or daddy's numbers to get into the mature/adult areas

Hey OP How about instead of it being the website's problem, it be the parents' problem?

BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IT IS.

What do you want done? Please tell us. -_-

I am legion, for we are many.
Legally, FA's covered in this case.

If a user registers a account, he agrees with FA's TOS, and as such, claims to be old enough to view porn (or not to view porn if he/she isn't)
If the user is lying about his or her age, it's their own legal responsibility. FA can't be sued for that.

But then again, you're free to think FA's age verification system is inadequate. I would like to ask, though: do you have anything better in mind?
I mean, it's easy to criticise a system, but can you think of a solution?

Sounds like what you're looking for is some way to verify a user's age. However, if there's some way to do that that wouldn't massively hinder the sign-up process and make new user sign-up rates drop off a cliff, I'm unaware of it.

Well yeah, at least if they catch someone on falsyfing their age, they should ban the ip adress of this user or the account itself . Maybe it wouldnt stop them but THAT would be a good way I think to "warn" them about the consequences

I am going to use my place of work as an example.

The libraries have a system in place to prevent minors from viewing mature/adult content called SAMS. Just like any site or place, upon aquiring a library card to use on the computers requires you to put down your DOB so that we can put the proper filter in place. As good as the program is, it is not perfect. Kids snatch up their parent's cards and use them in conjunction with their own to access sites that are blocked behind a filter. The staff does a decent job with catching minors that use adult cards, but sometimes few slip the cracks. We also have an added ban list of sites that are prohibited, but people can use proxies to get around that. Don't get me started on proxies..

The staf on FA does a decent job in catching and age-locking and/or banning users that have circumvent the rule. It's not perfect and the staff isn't omnipotent. Anyways, you create one way to block the content, people will find a way around it.
