8e6 classifies the *.furaffinity.net domain as "porn" so it will likely be blocked by any campus/company that is using a 8e6 appliance inline with their proxy/internet access. And given that 8e6 owns the market, there's bound to be a few installed. We just put them in at work; ostensibly to improve call centre efficiency. *reloads, shoots other foot*
It can be over ridden by the net admin, but most companies would require a business case (a valid business reason) and I expect most FAF users would be too embarrassed to ask. "Uh hi, its Bill in the mail room....can you turn my favorite YIFF site back on?"
For the record, 8e6 does not actively classify sites, they have a public mechanism for that; similar to the virus detection companies. In fact, its probably going to become a new form of DoS attack. Only a BOFH would load his competitor's sites into that list. :evil:

But UWO does not block websites by name as that would be a violation of the school's unrestricted access to the Internet policy. We only block known malicious IPs to protect the network from attacks.

at school we had a tool installed that checked websites for certain keywords. so as long as there were no words on the site contained in the tools list, the site wasnt blocked.
i didnt browse FA at school but i guess sometimes it was blocked and sometimes it wasnt, depending on what words were on the page that very moment.
this tool was a pain in the ass >.> one chemistry lesson was a complete disaster because we were not allowed to google for the word "ANALysis"... good thing i found a way to bypass the tool^^

Currently the FA forums aren't blocked but the actual site is blocked hows that for crap. =/ Stupid Websense... Dx I hope the creators rot in hell. FurAffinity.net is blocked under the category of 'uncatergorized' =/ how's that for more crap. Luckily i still have the forums to use so i'm happy. :3
