I think that some people also use being a furry as an excuse to act online like they never would IRL. Whether it's the actual "being a furry," part, or just behavioral stuff.
I tend to be much more extreme when I'm being a furry. I've participated in more impassioned arguments here in a few days than I have in years anywhere else.

I am more open when I am on the furry forums. After all I see people there who have a common interest.
