Make sure you specify edition. 3.5 is a bit more complex but I prefer all the options. 5 is more streamlined people tell me but nowhere near as...well...expansive. I’m a nerd that likes to be able to do whatever I want and have something for it, not being told what I have to do and given nothing in terms of options or ideas.

We're playing on 5e and its pretty good, but then again I haven't played on anything else, so I guess I wouldn't know ;D

5e is good for newbies for sure. There’s not as much to sift through but 3.5 was huge on making it your own game and expanding and giving you tons of tools whereas 5e...is catering to the fact Hasbro owns it now. Their gods aren’t nearly as realistic and they have an “all or nothing” vibe.

But oh is their combat system so much better!! You get to do more damage if you’re stronger, and can shoot better if youre more dexterous. You get more than a couple hit points per level. 5e definitely fixed a lot of the problems with the combat system for sure.

I tend to pick and choose what I like from various editions. Like, I liked how more of the feats worked in 3 rather than 3.5. I take some of the things from Ad&d and bits from the combat system of 5. I’ve also pulled in a few pathfinder things I like before.

We'll I guess that's the best way to do it, just pick the best things from all the editions and MAKE A MEGA EDITION!

It’s the best part of beingh DM.
Making a game that’s fun for everyone.

Like the handbook says roll 4d6, take out lowest, add other, that’s your score.

I just go “roll 1d20. If it’s under 10 roll again. Do it x many times and pick what scores you want and assign them where you want them.”

Honestly I usually do “roll 6d20 3 times rerolling any under 10 and pick what you want” but I have half a crown royal bag of dice. So. I can do that.

I always wanted to play D&D in RL, but somehow it never happened xD When I was younger I was too young, now that I'm older I don't have that much time anymore x__x
