Try letting them make the suggestions, with well developed characters you'll find they will let you know if something is right for them or not.

Music doesn't really provide much of a solution to my complex predicaments, I really want to open different perspectives from the viewpoint of my characters.

Most of mine are fairly well developed, certainly enough to know their feelings in certain situations.
Sally, Kathleen, Sebastian, June, Isako, Amy and Jinxy are all well developed.
I'm still working on some side characters and a couple of main ones.
