Because I don't believe it to be correct to put a public service financed by the taxpayers (that's what libraries are) in an analogy with an action that amounts to stealing someone elses intellectual property.
I'm a writer, I don't make money off my books, obviously as I care very little about money, but I still find the action of pirating stuff morally objectionable, and I do believe engaging in such activites puts you on the same moral level as a criminal.
