Hello, Proto
Ok listen to this
The goal of the Vita was to play console quality games on handheld
Which it totally succeeded at doing
But what was the goal of the point of the switch?
Oh yeah EXACTLY THE SAME THING
I could give more reasons but that's the main thing
Not the exact same thing.
Switch was made to be a console when it was plugged into a tv with console-like power, then turn into a handheld and downclocking the gpu to help save on battery, making it viable for gaming on the go.

Not the same thing.

Also, Vita ports of console games suck. Every try to play Borderlands 2 on the thing?

Cause I was busy playing Doom, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter.
You just activated my trap card!
Played all those, plus Twisted Metal 2, KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 4, Quake, Unreal tournament.
The benefits of being a spoiled shit growing up. Got to play a bit of everything.
A couple hot takes.
Crash only got real good 3rd game in (Warped), Jak and Daxter's only good game was the second in the series.

I only have like, two games on mine, so it sits forever inside it's retail box. I still think it's a pretty neat design, ofc.
That's a big problem with playstation handhelds it's hard to get the games

Which wouldnt be that hard
If people actually cared about the consoles

You were able to attach the Vita to a TV?

I know the normal PSP could but the official output was balls.
Also yes
It's called the PlayStation TV

Either way. The vita flopped and was consigned to the bargain bucket. No use arguing over it.

Makes it perfect for modders like me once it stops bloody updating.

Thought it was dead until it updated recently so. Gonna wait a little longer.
They arent as easy to mod like a 3ds so. At least Sony can do that better than Nintendo :p

All this talk of old games is actually a little depressing. Back then, developers really had something new to offer, something that we've never seen before, always pushing the boundaries. Now all we have is the same re-skinned, rehashed, regurgitated shit. It's a disgrace to the gaming industry.

Playstation TV was a Vita in a set top box.
Had to purchase it separately.

Not the same thing. Also can't play all the Vita games on it due to lack of touch controls on a Dualshock 3

That's why I stay away from (Jim Sterling voice) "Triple A" gaming companies in general.

I'm not saying that we haven't had a few decent games in the last 10-15 years, just that really good ones are far and few between nowadays.

There's little innovation left in the current AAA industry, I'd even argue the indies are incredibly derivative and samey too. They aren't the saviors of the industry, as much as people try to insist.

The gaming industry is stuck in a rut. Originality had been replaced with greed and profits.

It's fair to say that you can only reinvent the wheel so many times before, well, at the end of a the day you can't really do much more with it.

The analogy I tend to use. Games now seek to mildly satisfy every single person they can, rather than truly satisfy and wow a smaller niche audience.
Difference between going to McDonalds and a premium steak house.

But is it as overrated as me?
Only my heroine, Morticia, can handle this.

Hey Star Wars Jedi Fallen order is really good as weird as that may sound.

True, to an extent, but people are also held back because it has been 'codified' as to what can and can't work in a video game. It makes developers less exploratory, less eager to try new things.
