furry dnd is the best dnd there is.Huh...would be funny to develop a 'furry' version of D&D.
And yep...the 'Satanic' fears surrounding D&D were a huge thing: it was also seen as somehow addictive, or some kind of labyrinth of maladjustment one might appear down. When I went to Michigan State, this case was still being widely talked about:
James Dallas Egbert III - Wikipedia
After I graduated, I rented a room form an older friend, who had been one of his roommates at the time; according to him, he was also gay, and very much trying to hide it: it wasn't at all easy to be out in that era. A sad case, to be sure, and in ways, it does illustrate the allure and even the dangers of getting too involved in any hobby, even if this case had so many factors, D&D just happening to be the one that got the most attention.
Growing up in Michigan, this case got tons of attention; kids used to LARP in the abandoned steam tunnels of the nearby Traverse City Mental Hospital when I was in middle school, perhaps even somewhat inspired by this case. Very eerie buildings:

...or course, building like these are just asking kids to break in and explore : )
Now you can tour the tunnels, even:
