My friend from Akita joked about my idea of working as one of those Harajuku salespeople with a nasal voice from Tokyo, so the pic represents me with a wig and a peg on my nose, wishing "Merry Christmas" (to him, originally). I love it so much though, kinda felt like switching my pfp~
I speak Portuguese, English, can read Spanish and I'm currently at level N4 in Japanese. My long-term plan is to include the latter in my translation business, as it pays better and there's a high demand for it in my country. Plus I love discussing and drawing parallels between our cultures, it's surprising how different yet so similar they can be in many aspects
For instance, this week I was thinking about how the Japanese tend to be full of "maybes" and "sort ofs". Say you're at the doctor and your back hurts, your response to their inquiry could be "I guess it hurts here." Docs in my region would be confused with an unclear answer, but on the other hand, I find that we're very used to saying "I think I'm going to bed" and "I guess I'm hungry." So, in a way, I can understand where this uncertainty comes from
