Maybe coz mods forget or don't care about a mere detail xP But if thread popularity is a measure for pins..
Either way, people will always find their own way to enjoy liberal threads like this. Last post content doesn't matter, all that matters is being last, and with that in mind we even end up forgetting the win at some point

But threads at the top of the list get the most attention because they get read first, and a pinned thread is always at the top and never falls off the front page, so it has an unfair advantage when it comes to popularity. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. If it were truly popular it wouldn't need to be pinned. Simlarly, I reckon 'Angry Birds' stayed in the top ten on the iPhone App Store for, like, decades because being in the top ten makes you more visible.

OOC- agreed that there are issue with other threads being "hidden" due to others being pinned or still on the front page. It's hard to strike a balance at times.

Well, we can go pin Preds vs Prey then, it's always popular and was never pinned :p
And people forget the game often over there nowadays as well.
Or we could just not pin any forum games thread. I dunno, the reasons for pinning anything here except for rules and announcement stuff are beyond me
