Yeah, but you have to file it with the court and they have to make sure you're not doing it to like, commit fraud or something. So her judge sent her a summons so she can speak with her.

Sometimes judges want to talk and ask some official questions before signing papers.
Some don't give a flying leap and just sign if there's no obvious reason to be annoyed.

Me too. It shouldn't be a big deal, we're taking my mother's maiden name because we both wanted to change our names (I don't like my dad's fam, she has just always wanted a different last name) so we had to go the expensive, roundabout way to get it done.

I'm trying not to worry too much, my research says this is pretty normal. We're not trying to evade laws or anything, we just want to have the same married name.
