My fave author actually starts most of her books with the tragic legend/history as a prologue and then proceeds to the main story and incorporates the legend into the main. I've always enjoyed the way they're wrapped together.

So why not try to use it to your advantage?

I usually have a dreamlike prologue, but setting the stage and getting things going is always a drag for me. Right now I'm trying to get back into writing regularly with a fanfic of my favorite game (which follows pretty closely but still.)
