Yup! My wife went in for her hearing and then they all decided it was dumb I got a different judge and was going to take me longer, so the judge got my consent to just do it then too and now I finally have the family name I grew up with rather than my paternal's. Ugh.

And we have the same last name now!! I'm so excited to finally have my name. The one I've been using everywhere anyway for years except for legal matters.

I almost considered changing the rest of my names but I figured that was going to be more difficult than I needed...

My wife and I were married in May. But since we wanted to take a name neither of us already had, we had to pay and go the long route.
We took my mother's maiden name.

She always considered changing your name to the same thing as your spouse to be part of what being married was, I just don't want anything to do with the side of the family that abandoned me not once but freaking twice.

So solid solution was to take the name I always considered mine anyway.

Yeah take your time! I met my wife in High School so I'm kind of an outlier. But we didn't start dating for years...

and my initial reaction to her was "Oh god what a spoiled, rich little bitch."

I understand that relationships take time and I have been there to where I was in a relationship with someone that I was going to marry when I was in high school and even when I graduated just to find out that my ex cheated on me.
