Let me tell you about the time me and bhutrflai were camping in the mountains. Probably after midnight. Our camp is waaaaay up there, with nothing around but a few cabins along the road coming up. We're sitting by the fire. Just finished smoking. About to go to bed. Then suddenly, not very far off(no more than half a mile, we hear a godamn pack of Coyotes going crazy!! Talk about spooky af! They didn't sound like they were attacking something, it sounded like THEY were getting attacked!! Needless to say, I got the 20 guage out of the tent, and put my .45 in my lap. Good times! We didnt go to bed for another hour.
I’ll take “Awake all night” for “I shit my pants”

Pretty sure Cyotes like wolves ignore humans unless provoked...

An attempt to catch the roadrunner probably backfired or something;)

I walk in thick forest at night frequently.
And I have heard howling before.
I howled back, and hoped I wasn't gonna get mauled by a werewolf.
I howl and tree knock every time we go up to the mountains. Plenty of Bear. Coyote. Big Cats. Wild Boar and Pig. And occasionally, a human.(humans are the main reason I carry firearms in the woods, not the wildlife.)

yeah, it's only in extreeme circumstances they attack unprovoked, like if they're starving or have something wrong with them (the notorious 18th century one if france that killed multiple people clearly had some kind of congenital disease)

Ah yes the homosapien the biggest threat of EVERYTHING.

Coyotes are actually a decent threat to humans, as they're more aggressive and less timid than wolves typically.
Plus, reconsider the part were he says it sounds like they were getting attacked, not doing the attacking. >_<

Truth.
Even as a kid, I roamed the woods.
Humans are 9.9 out of 10 the bigger threat. >_>

Yeah wild dogs seem to be scared of humans.

Good times!! Been going up there to the mountains camping for 25 years, and have only seen two bears. One about 22 years ago, one about 8 years ago. Me and Bhutrflai were smoking weed while walking an old logging road, and spooked a bear. All we saw was its ass going over the top of a hill about 100 feet away. We make more noise nowadays.

Bears are so adorable. <3
Noise really is the best defense.
Making noise, AND listening for nature to go silent.

As I have read up Coyotes are actually less of a threat.

One thing we never see up there are Deer. I find bear poop and pig trails all the time. Scratch marks on trees where the Bear sharpen tbeir claws. But I rarely see Deer sign.

Those scratches might be deer resting out new antlers.
Oh no. I know the difference. And Deer usually leave their marks lower. Bears like to stand up and rake their claws down the trunk. Distinctive af. And you can tell how big a Bear is by his or her poop. The bigger the pile, the bigger the Bear. I know there is one near our camp. A big one.
