Untill you have to say a persons name...
When that happens I usually sneak in a way to get them to say their name for me. Or I play on my natural derp and go "I'm sorry, what was your name again?"
I'm hella bad at remembering things that I haven't seen written anyway so I can usually play off that.

Majority of people don't do that and I ended up having people thinking I didn't know how to pronounce my own name.

I'd rather listen to a Non-Native Speaker struggle with English, than listen to most Native English speaking Americans. xD
Agreed...especially here in the south sometimes.
I'm like "...no I have no idea what jangjang's is..." or one time a lady said "gel-ree" instead of jewelry and it took me like ten damned minutes to realize what she said.

Their English is hard to make out as they are taught English by non native speakers and the few who do speak it natively hate living in Japan as they aren't from it.

Yeah, majority of people don't do that. But I do, and it usually solves the problem. Or you go "How did you spell your name again?"
Retail teaches you some bullshit skills...

Still sucks when you tell people your name without them seeing how it's spelt and spelling it the wrong way.

Or people who say Ja-Lap-Oh-Noes.
Like...How do you not know how to say jalapenos, when you're double my age???

Actually a lot of English teachers in Japan are native speakers. =]
And their English isn't hard to understand at all, even when rough. I often find a Boston or Jamaican accent to be more difficult to understand.

Also in case anyone was wondering: Jangjang's translated into "Bojangles" A restaurant chain down here. They got really pissy when I didn't understand what they were talking about. "Well it's just what we call it"

Yeah don't expect outsiders to understand your inside joke.

All I got from that conversation was this person wasn't willing to teach their child correct speech.

No I mean the Japanese will say it way off and it gets annoying.

Sure. My new last name (it's a family name) is constantly misspelled and mispronounced and it's like oi why did I do this to myself

Or "Jah-pa-lay-noes" is pretty big around here. And "Hall-ah-pain-oes" OH! And "Tort-ill-uhs"

But then again I used to be fluent in spanish...

My wife and I make fun of them. Between the two of us we'll call them Jackalopes, Hallowpains, and Tortaloonies.

*shrugs* Don't expect perfection from people, especially non-native speakers. :p

Oh, and @Slytherin Umbreon
Besides the ears, Am I fairly close with anatomy correctness?
tbh, I feel really weird giving advice. I've barely been drawing any longer then you have, this avatar is honestly kind of a fluke more then anything else -3-
I just chipped in on the ears because I thought I had a good method for them, and they were the easiest thing to be brought up to our par.

This is what the only two other things I've drawn look like:

I get that but don't expect being to understand them or them understand you. Their language is way different and it leads to many things that we can't say ourselves.
