Your just desensitized. Most folk I know are desensitized to language, gore, horror, and the like.

Maybe that's it. I mean stuff like The Shining still scares me, but Child's Play was just sorta silly. I definitely appreciate it from a special effects standpoint. The animatronics and puppets they used for Chucky really was impressive.

You can only watch so much on screen butchery before your immune to its shock value. Still, films like chucky has its charm. Something about a physco killer inspiriting a doll makes for good entertainment.
