Well, black people back then couldn’t get a good education because of segregation, and by not having a good education didn’t learn proper English, add in some regional dialect, and that’s why the grammar is off

Than there's an issue with either the way you're trying to learn, or your attention to it.
A lot of learning is one doing it to the point of being used to it, and two retaining info. Keep trying.
