Day 1: We reached a clearing in the forest large enough to set up camp for the next few days or so. Mistress seems confident in the mercenaries she's hired but I'm not so sure about them. Their loyalty is bought with money, not earned through respect. I pray they don't plan to kill her out here.

Day 2: Today was rather uneventful, aside from the moment lex arrowbane got his foot caught in a bear trap, nothing really happened.

Day 3: Mistress has tasked me with gathering food, the hunters will hunt for prey but I have the misfortune of gathering berries and herbs that will likely never be used. At about 8 or 9 PM, I began hearing strange sounds coming from the forest. They sound almost like voices, some sound like whispers while others are more akin to malicious laughter. I don't know who or what is making those sounds, but I do know that I am not going back out there alone.

Update: As I lay in my tent, the sounds seem closer than during the day. Fear grips my very being and I write this entry to calm my nerves.

Day 4: Today I was assigned to water retrieval along with Nort battlebreaker and Sem spearborn. We've been getting water from a nearby stream. Along the way I suggested that if we wanted the water to last longer, we'd quit drinking so much. Alas, as with all my suggestions, it was dismissed and Sem said “what do you know, you're just a servant.” I was preparing my rebutal but Nort triggered some sort of trap, thorn covered vines were tightly wrapped around his leg. We freed him and I patched his leg up the best I could with clean leaves. We would have completed our task, but given Nort's injury, I had to support him as he hobbled back to camp. we returned with four less containers of water than we should have. On one hand, the mercenary captain was furious, but on the other I earned the respect of Nort and Sem for helping.

Note: Whoever set that trap wasn't trying to catch an animal, it was set up to catch one of us. I told Sem and Nort to relay my concerns to the rest of the mercenaries in camp. Who or what is doing this?

Day 5: There are new rules established in the camp.

1: Don't go into the forest alone

2: keep your weapons on you at all times.

3: Keep your eyes open for anything suspicious

4: All tents must be at least five inches apart

Everyone is getting tense in this forest. Reports of voices and even figures in the trees are becoming more frequent. I've been moved into Sem and Nort's tent for my protection. Mistress picked them because they were the only ones I was close to. That and the fact Nort's leg needed fresh bandages.

Day 6: One of the mercenaries has gone missing, his partner Kern weaselstorm returned covered in blood with various cuts and marks on his body. As we tended to him, we tried to get him to tell us what happened. He was obviously in shock over whatever happened out there but one phrase I picked out from all the gibberish was “red eyes”. I haven't seen anything like eyes in the dark forest but we all heard a particularly sinister laugh echo through the trees.

Update: Kern was moved in with Sem, Nort and I. He seemed to have calmed down until we all heard something coming from the forest that sounded like “We see you”. At that point, Kern was shaking, rocking in place and on the verge of tears. I have a bad feeling about all of this.

Day 7: Everything is happening so fast, paranoia runs rampant among us. Even mistress is visibly shaken by what is happening. The sounds are all around us, we're afraid to make a move, the red eyes watch closely at night. We've got to get out of this forest.
