Generally speaking, sequels do tend to be inferior. A great example being the Jurassic Park series!

Why is it most people seem to think that Terminator 2 was the only decent sequel to a movie? Like, there are plenty of others, I'm sure.

Not the only one, but it's a great example of a sequel being significantly better and not just a bit better.
