How do you Scots prepare it?

Well, it depends on the situation and the tea. For a group using a teapot, you add one tea bag per person then add one for the pot, add fresh boiling water (not boiled water) and let it brew for a few minuets before serving.
If you are just making a mug of tea, just out the teabag of your choice in the mug, again add fresh boiling water, leave it for three to four minutes to brew then add milk, suger, a slice of lemon, whatever takes your fancy or just have it black.

A slice of lemon?? I've never seen that for hot tea. I live in London and we just use an electric kettle to boil water with the teabag already in, pour in the water and milk after.

Pro tip.
If you pour the water in from about a foot above the mug it adds more oxygen to the drink and improves the taste.
