Very tired animator
Haven’t been active here in a while, but Im looking for some crit on the shading of this, thanks in advance! Also draw overs are much appreciated

Ty! I did use a red multiply layer but I will try using an overlay layer and will try your erasing tactic out, tysm for the tips! They are super helpful ^w^Be braver with your colour choices. Shadows are way darker then you think they are. They also have their own colours rather than just being a darker shade of what the base colour is.
The general rule is that shadows will tint the opposite colour of what the light source is. So a yellow light source will add blue into the colours. So for the pink fur the shadows would be be kind of a mid purple.
Going braver with the light and shadows will really help to improve the depth of an image and bring it away from being flat.
Doing a flat shading style like this I like to set a layer above the flat colours flood fill it with like a dark purple or blue and set it to overlay then use an eraser to kinda carve out the areas where light is hitting rather then paint in shadows. I don't know why but it helps me make the lighting feel more concrete.
No worries, most of the red tint is probbably getting lost in the pink fur since their so close. It's not strictly a lighting/shading thing but good colour theory is to play up the contrasts. So since pink is the dominant colour and in the warm. Spectrum you'll want to contrast it in the shading with cool colours will generally look nicer (again this is all super general advise that can easily be broken to create specific looks/moods, but it's a good starting place)Ty!
