That comparison isn't completely unfair, but it is mostly inaccurate. You're equating furry art with all of the furry fandom. Furries express their interest in anthropomorphism through many media, such as pictures, literature, and fursuits. Anthropomorphism is a concept, not just a style. Even if you were to reduce it to an artistic style, artists and musicians specialize in certain genres like surrealism or atmospheric rock, which is much more comparable to furry art than a chord. C minor and slam dunks are more akin to foxes or wolves, if you want to use this analogy.

I guess technically it's part of a lifestyle to acknowledge that you're "human-like". It's just not really a lifestyle on it's own.

I would say that anthropomorphism is used as a device by other artists, but it extends beyond that for furries. There's overlap between furries/anthropomorphism and art, but neither wholly includes the other. For instance, music is included in movies, but you wouldn't reasonably reduce music to a device used to further a movie's plot. Music can be more. Likewise, furry lifestylers get more out of the fandom than people who just use it as a device in their drawings or writing. They have a lot of fun and enjoy themselves exploring various aspects of the fandom. Alternative lifestyles don't have to have value for the majority of people in society to be valuable for a few, which is why they're alternative lifestyles.

Now the key thing to remember about interest is that you need to take the principle (in this case, the fun of being in a fandom) multiply it by the rate (how much you enjoy being in the fandom) and time (how long you have been in the fandom). So, interest= prt. Works in banking and it works in real life
