May we have a clear answer on the status of being able to change usernames on the main website?

I have had this name since I made my original FA account in 2008. I changed my idea about this name about a year or two after I made it, and I've been waiting patiently for more than a decade to change this name. However, the best info I can ever seem to find about the details of any progress towards this implementation since then has always been a "soon" or "when we finish it" type of response, which is odd and surprisingly vague for a feature that seems to be requested regularly and is usually standard on most sites.

For instance, you're available to change your name on: Deviantart, Sofurry, Inkbunny, Weasyl, Furrynetwork, Twitter, e621.net, Derpibooru, Fimfiction, and even Patreon. This website remains one of the only places that host furry media which doesn't have this feature, despite ostensibly being the most popular.

Alongside taking some stress off the mods of this site, I feel like a lot of users would be very pleased to finally have clarity about the difficulties of implementing the feature, how long it's been taking to implement, a statement about the progress being made towards this (should there be any), and/or a concise estimate on when the feature will be released. Anyone that can answer these questions, whether from a mod or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated. ;)

On the main site the main delay is database changes. They're in development, but we've had some delays due to GDPR and CCPA requirements that set back our coding schedule.

That sounds tough. But, has there been any progress made on the matter? Are those requirements and delays stopping your team from releasing it this year?
