Most memorable scam/drama?

I'm making a fun little powerpoint presentation for some friends of mine to introduce them to the furry fandom, but I'm a bit stumped when it comes to the drama/scam page I'll have. I'm very much a lurker, and have been more on the outskirts of the fandom than involved. So as you can imagine, I'm not very knowledgeable on the history of the fandom. So what do you remember? What are some of the biggest scams you've seen? Fursuit makers who ended up ghosting? Artists who copied and stole? Conventions that went down in metaphorical (or literal!) flames?? Feel free to share! I'm not looking for things like outsiders questioning if we're zoophiles or making bits to mock the fandom, but I'm trying to find more inter-fandom stuff.

THIS I have seen this 20x from different makers, and eventually they get caught and banned and then start new, people actually fall for it though and lots of reviews stating paid for but never received

Someone set off a fuckin WMD at MFF back in 2016 (I think?). And the news anchors ended up laughing over the word furry.

The Burned Furs? I can't say I know too much about them but it was quite a scandal as I've been told.

Several years ago, there was drama involving a supposedly abusive furry artist. Many got dragged through the metaphorical mud over it. I've never followed this particular creator, but they're a big name in some furry circles. Hopefully, the accusations were false and it was just a bunch of primadonna shenanigans. If somebody is physically abusive, notify law enforcement! Don't expect other furries to step in and save the day. I never was able to make heads or tails of what happened, but it's probably just as well.

<deep exasperated sigh> Yeeeah, every group has their idiots, and they would definitely qualify. They go by "The Furred Reich" <ugh> and while they often claim it's "just a character who is a Nazi and not their views personally, just some harmless RP with uniforms and armbands!"...well basically, come on, right? It someone walks like a Nazi and dresses like a Nazi and they makes racist points like a Nazi...I don't care what they call themselves as an excuse to look in the mirror, they're fuckin' Nazi's! Why RP as something that disgusting if you don't believe it a little yourself right? The more blatant of them don't even bother with the "character" excuses, and it makes the rest of the fandom look really bad. But then, Nazi's make everything worse, right?

I'd provide some links for you, but to be perfectly honest...I really don't want to. Google on your own, and have pictures of fluffy bunnies ready for therapy-breaks.

God that was so fucking funny.

FurAffinity drama comes to mind as the site itself has thrown its community under the bus multiple times. The sellout to IMVU and then the drama when a known, malicious hacker was hired but hidden from the community. Those two stand out to me.
