Hello, Ive been trying to set up MySQL, PHP, PHPMyAdmin, and Apache on my home computer for school and I've been having some technical issues, was wondering if anyone uses these. I've never used these before and I did ask my professor, but hes an adjunct and said to look it up. Ive tried every beginner install tutorial I could find and still cant get them to work. This is the site I got the farthest:

http://mpcon.org/apacheguide/

So far I did get apache and MySQL to work. PHP Im stuck on step 6 - 7 as I dont know where to make the changes and if I should extract just the .dll or full zip file.

When testing the http://localhost/ it works but http://localhost/phpinfo.php does not load. :( Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're looking to struggle through setup to learn something, keep at it. If you want to simplify the entire process, take a gander at http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html.

install apache using the MSI or whatever.

Extract php to C:php

change the webroot to something like C:host

Install MySQL AND SECURE IT WITH A GOOD PASSWORD ("101myP4s5w0rd!" would be OK, but "oshi" or "password" should not be)

edit apache's config using the instructions presented in PHP's manual.

Tweak PHP.ini

dump phpMyAdmin into C:hostpma

edit the conf file in that directory appropriately.

Fire up MySQL, then apache.
