Hello there! My name is Joey and I am a queer self-taught artist from Canada who has only recently come out as furry. This is my first step into the community in an official sense (I was always lurking from the shadows and admiring the art and characters I found on other sites) and to be honest, I'm having a bit of trouble finding my footing.
I originally come from DeviantArt (been there 12 years and counting) but it was overdue for me to explore other communities that perhaps are a little safer and kinder. That is what has led me to finally join FA.
I do SFW art, mostly feral wolf characters, but I have started to dip my toe in D&D, anthro/furry, and other humanoid and fantasy art! I am looking for suggestions of fellow SFW artists to follow on FA. Mature themes involving horror and gore and suggestive sensuality are totally fine! I am just not currently comfortable with explicit sexual content, so I have my filters on. So, the odd grouping of explicit art in most galleries I won't even see, but I'd love to have my feed more filled out with art that I can see and enjoy!

I'd love some artist suggestions to check out (especially those belonging to POC, queer and other marginalized groups!) as well as any tips on how to grow my own community as a first-time freelance digital artist.

My gallery SFW is 98%, but I'm more of a craftsman than an artist. If you are interested in embroidery, welcome.

Here are a lot of furs of different orientations and genders, so just browse through the arts and you will always find someone new.

Aaa thank you kindly, that means a lot! I’ve been really struggling lately, but I have hopes that this will be a very good venture for me to improve and grow as an artist

Welcome! Nice to meet you.

No need to be nervous, personally I'm awfully anxious and selective with online interactions but here on this forum I'm all fine.

No problem. I find FA much more convenient for artists than DA. I also didn't witness hatred of queer or other furs.
General minimum recommendations:
1. Posting work as often as possible. 1-2 times a week is great.
2. Draw fan art, it helps in the beginning. If you prefer the feral, you still have a lot of cartoons for that.
3. The dnd fandom is quite popular, so this is a good option for you.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome , Joey! I hope you make some friends over here ^^

I'm also a new artist in Fur Affinity, and personally NSFW stuff is kinda gross to me 90% of the time, so I won't ever create or post anything NSFW neither here or in my FA page. There's a render in my FA page about feets, not actually my thing, I don't have any kinks, it was a gift for a friend, just in case you consider that as NSFW content .m.

Isn't that the reason most people here post art..LOL
Meh, something like that. I would like to open comissions, I'm in a really really REALLY bad economic situation, sometimes I can't even afford having a breakfast, and making som' art takes me a lot of time since my stuff is made in 3D, i need a beefy computer for my content, but I just can't gain money trough the internet: PayPal just doesen't work here, just as a lot of other services related to money transfer, and also I honestly feel bad for making people pay for just a bunch of pixels... so yeah... before I started officialy doing furry stuff, I was making a lot of art raffles on Telegram where I gifted people Minecraft Renders. I can't just charge people for that, i don't want to, and I can't do it anyways.

tysm! I don't really have a problem with NSFW as a whole, I have some good friends who are incredible artists and do a lot of NSFW, it's just not for me. I really like how the filtering works on FA, it certainly makes me feel pretty comfortable navigating everything!

Also, gave you a watch! 3D stuff is really cool!

Not to hijack the thread, but I feel you. Theoretically I could have had much use from commissions. Leveraging the difference in the costs of living too. But my mind just doesn't work like that, I can't make art on demand.

That's true. Even in the rare case of something going bad, such as argument spiralling out of control, the moderators are typically quick to react.

Maybe I should mention that I'm doing 3D stuff too. A lot of it is (usually rather mildly) NSFW. But I'm trying to be considerate about the SFW folks too, everything is categorized properly so it can be filtered, and some pieces have their SFW versions as well.
