Newbie. Crazy idea. Just might work.

I am a crafter first and a furry... Well, down the list a bit. That says nothing to how much I already enjoy the fandom. But I'm also...... Poooor. Not homeless, but, currently my bills are eating most of my wallet.

That's when I decided to buy scrap fur. Yeah, not a good choice if you're a professional fursuit maker but I found some actually nice 1" pile frosted grey in a square that's at least good enough for small markings. So then I got an idea.

My first character will be based off a fursuit (semirealistic full digi cuz why not right?) That I will make entirely out of "matching" scrap. And the characters name will be derived in a way from that concept but I don't have it yet. The foam part will be easy, that's just measuring and mechanics. And yes, I'm totally going for a mechanically puppetted head.

It'll work, I'm a Maker. I learned general Making from my dad, who was like if you put part of Robin Williams' brain and part of Adam savage's brain together then marinated it in Essence of Dad my dad, would have been what you got. So I know I can do it, but the time length of this project is something I have no clue on. Lol.

Tell me what you think!

Uhm... go for it! But also don't bankrupt yourself! Basic financials first, hobby second, even if it sucks, that's just necessary.

Oh yeah. I am buying, washing, and planning in slow bits. I already have enough foam for maybe even five full digis, but that's cuz I also LARP and couch foam is also really good for arrowheads. So it's really just the fur I'm getting for now.

Honestly, I have no idea how a fursuit really works. Not thinking about that, yet. But scrap material is always good, as long as it don't pile up unused...

The frosted grey fur dried from it's recent wash beautifully, and I have a cheap but ball ended slicker on the way so I can get an idea of how things will lay once it's all brushed and everything.

I have some marginally shorter fur that is solid black and noticeably lower quality... The water ran BROWN when I washed it. If I use that for a suit it'll be around the feetpaw area. There's more in the bag still. I haven't gotten to it though.
