This site almost reminds me of the "Alta-Vista image search game" that a friend of mine claims that he made up. When you search for images on just about any search engine, it will give you the top rated ones first; with the family filter turned off, the top rated images become porn 99% of the time. The goal was to pick something, search it, and you would win if porn didn't appear. We also had to instate the rule, no searching of animals of any type.
If anything at all, those searches ruined my childhood.

One of the reasons I keep Adult content turned off - you lose less sleep over rule 34.
I don't think there's anything I've seen that has really ruined my perception of my favorite kiddie cartoons. The one Chuck Norris Fact about condoms and Optimus Prime came really close, though.

If it exists, there's a fetish for it. Virtually anything/ any character someone will have a thing for, I don't pretend it doesn't exist. I just laugh or go "Um, okay" if I see rule 34 of childhood stuff. I used to be "
WTF" about it but now I honestly don't care about it anymore. They're not going to change my perception because those drawings most likely aren't canon anyway.

I'm too old to be shocked easily, but I know what you mean. R34 porn is often depressing because it implies that everything has to have some carnal sexual subtext; but that is simply false in either fantasy or real life. It's best to just learn to tune it out. What you saw is just some artist's private fantasy.
Just remember that what you saw in your childhood was the real story; the one that the artist intended and that many other people valued as well.

R34'd Swat Kats doesn't catch one off-guard as, say, R34 Hamtaro or something, because one wouldn't usually think that somebody would target 'em for R34-material.
A(nother) bad thing of R34 is that, the more people become aware of it, many of 'em will take it up as a challenge and apply R35.

Since I was a kid, I've been warned about cartoon porn of the R34 variety. So when I started using the internet more and more I wouldn't be caught off-guard. Still, as a kid I couldn't wrap my head around the existence Disney porn. Sometimes I still can't.
After my encounter with some Japanese doujins/fancomics (not just from my favorite anime series), "regular" R34 doesn't have the same impact. Bad sketch with MSPaint coloring of 2 of my favorite characters doing it, doesn't impact me as dozens of pages of graphically detailed raep scenes, complete with "plot" that goes as far as mind-breaking the characters, because physical harm just ain't enough, well, that's another ballpark entirely. The fact that an "artist"/studio dedicated days to make something like it (and keep cranking 'em out) is much more disturbing than some guy that takes a couple of hours to create in MSPaint.
And yes it's also quite disturbing that said material is sold in large enough quantities to fund like-projects and keep the "artists" fed.

Yeah same, even with the god damn safety search on. My friend and I were at school looking up regular show pictures for his Graphic arts project and still, even with safe search on the strictest of filters there was tons and tons of rule 34. I don't want to see Rigby shoving his fist into Benson's Gumball flap at home, much less see that at school

I watched swat cats, and I love the adult stuff they made with it. Hell, why is it so devastating to you? I mean I know what people are, and adults are going to act like adults man. I want sex, they shouldn't/didn't need it? I am not saying you didn't get that, I am trying to just illustrate where I come from. To me, I like adult art like that because it makes me feel like I grew with them in a way and I still am.
Bah, I am just rabblin' now but that is just good ole damaged me.
