Adult artwork shall be and should be marked 18+ mature content. It should be marked under "Adult" if it involves genitalia, nudity, or reproductive fluids. People shouldn't even be able to see it if you tagged your content correctly. They will get mad if it's not properly tagged.

People probably get angry because it's NSFW, it tends to overshadow whatever else gets posted. Just take DeviantART for example. That's around 1/3 of the site. It gets more attention than anything else. Also the fact that some cringe when they see it as repulsive, disgusting, or a major turn off. That's just a theory.

Yeah, the only successfully furry artists I know are the ones that draw porn. Badly drawn porn still sells better then a good SFW piece from what I've seen.

Most of my big purchases are SFW exactly for this reason. I find some excellent artists who don't do porn. I'm fine with that.

A lot of the people who do draw NSFW will do SFW stuff too. Just no one really asks them for it xD

Oh yeah their are some really good SFW artist out there, but if they can't/won't draw genital then they are missing out on potential profits. (I am missing out on these profits. Help me. )

Let's say you don't like maple syrup (adult art). You like pancakes (furry art), but maple syrup just makes your lips curl. So you go to your favorite pancake house (furry art site) to get yourself a stack of pancakes without syrup (clean art). You look forward to your pancakes, but alas! You happened to come in during Susan's shift, and Susan is a waitress (artist) who doesn't think it should be a big deal if you get some maple syrup on your plain pancakes. Surely you've tasted syrup before, so how bad could it be? So Susan decides she's going to pour a bunch of maple syrup all over the plain pancakes you ordered, because who are you to say your pancakes should come without syrup?

Would you be upset with Susan? I sure would. She decided that her opinion on maple syrup on pancakes was more important than her customer's (viewer) tastes. That's not her decision to make, and if it turns out the customer is actually allergic to maple syrup (a minor), the entire pancake house could be legally liable.

More people than you think, actually. I've not done any adult commission work in ages, because all I get asked for is clean stuff. Which is fine by me; I don't much care either way.

Honestly, the best ways to get viewers is to make sure your art thumbnails well. If the thumbnail makes people want to click to get a closer look, you've managed to draw them in. Art that visibly tells a story tends to do better, as well. (I'm basing this on stats from my own accounts, primarily my comic account.)

i've never gotten shit from any strangers about my adult art (on FA or elsewhere), the only grief i've ever gotten was from people i know or acquaintances by proxy. For that matter i don't think it's actual children who're the ones complaining but fully grown adults with a "please think of the children" mentality. Them and the genital-phobic who're just acting in the interest of the innocent in an attempt to keep the kiddies safe and pure.

if minors wants to see sexy stuff (and they do), they're going to seek it out and find it (and again, they do). Nobody can take full responsibility for the actions of a horny teenager but him/her self. Kids will be kids. Get over it.

Well, there's 'nothing really wrong' about FA's "pornography" display and it's relative equivalences.

Perhaps it's just that artists are categorizing it wrongly: like putting sex at "General" category. (Yes, I have seen some art that has been like that)

People's opinions are inevitably there. And it indeed is quite agitating that they go on and shove them and attempt to connect it to the community generally.
Supplementary to this statement is that there are people at the community who are concened about the things being exposed to the minors (or perhaps people who don't want such displays). But there are people who are kind of extreme.

It keeps you and the site staff from getting charged with supplying porn to a minor, and some people like to just hide it because they're at work or are not interested. Neither of those is specific to FA, and you really shouldn't be circumventing either anyway.

You have a point but the rating system makes it ten time harder for adult artist to get anything going for them. If everyone else is scared to see something as harm less as breast. like you never seen them in irl. whats the matter with seeing a drawn version.. its just overall stupid to restrict good artist just because they like drawing lewds things

Most artists on FA that make NSFW content make SFW art as well anyway. I agree with you though, i don't see the really see the harm of NSFW art, but people should still be able to blacklist whatever they want.

as an artist ... drawing nsfw is my skill and what i like to do... my personal opinion on furry art is... not mature ..to be posting so yea someone like me has to rely on it.
