I'm more or less going with the flow. If they won't moderate the site there essentially isn't any point to having rules in the first place.
I won't go out of my way to discuss something of the sort around minors as even I have a sense of moral responsibility, but I'm equally not going to go out of my way to avoid a discussion I'm interested in.

The existing rules say;
"Prohibited content includes erotic role-play, but excludes discussion of adult themes, provided they aren't explicit. "
While there may be some subjectivity in judging this, I feel the bulk of the posts in the fetish thread could be considered non-explicit discussion of adult themes, while the cut/uncut thread is probably getting towards too explicit, being directly about genitalia.
Could a section for adult themes within those parameters be useful? Perhaps, but I can imagine it would be a chore to moderate.

Yeah, this would probably be for the best to do. It'd also give a home for artists doing nsfw commissions, trades, and requests.

As a counterpoint, it's entirely possible to make a section of the forum only viewable to people that are confirmed to not be minors. All that would take is some effort on moderations part.

All three of us are on a certain other forum where the above has been implemented.
But there's still ways of the place becoming complete cancer which I'm certain this forum would do within hours.
dont do it. if we get a nsfw section 90% of the forum will just be badly drawn dog porn.

That IMO is WAY too easy to exploit.
Better to not have and not deal with potential crap, than have it and potentially deal with minors having NSFW access.
Want NSFW? Go onto Discord or other sites.

An NSFW section sounds like a good idea to me.
I imagine that a few people could fake their age to get through, but even so, it doesn't have to be perfect. If kids really want to see some inappropriate discussions or content, there are many much more accessible outlets for that all over the internet, so it's not enabling them any more than they've already been enabled.
In my mind, an NSFW section should just be some kind of barrier to keep it out of the immediate sight from those who might unintentionally stumble onto that content and find it uncomfortable (kids mainly, but also some adults).
As is, NSFW discussions seem to be treated as grey area by this forum community; the threads aren't locked and people contribute, but there's always some level of backlash by a few users. I think an NSFW section would work as an effective outlet for people who are interested in those discussions, but don't wish to inconvenience the people who don't feel comfortable seeing that kind of stuff.

This forum isn't innately meant for NSFW anyway.
If a NSFW area IS to be put in place, at the very least have the option of not seeing it.

That's any website with such content though. You just assume people are what they say they are unless there's evidence otherwise, at which point you ban them from said content. If the content is hidden unless you have an account and are 18+, then no one making an account would know that they have reason to lie, thus helping avoid would be liars.

I don’t think this is feasible at this point in time. While in theory, it’s a good idea, I doubt it would be good in practice.
Adding features to forums isn’t as easy as pressing a button. That, compounded with the fact that we already lack moderators, is just a recipe for disaster. If you really feel so inclined to discuss NSFW- you have discord, telegram, FA, f-list, e621, phoenixed, and a multitude of other platforms. FAF just isn’t for NSFW, and even if it was, it simply would be too difficult to put in place
