I've been observing this thread since it was created and many people here already know my position on those under the age of 18 on this site. For who don't, my opinion is that they shouldn't be on here. Don't worry, I'm not going to belabor that point here and that was the last time I'll bring it up. There are two reasons for this.

@Dragoneer said, most measures to keep minors off NSFW site are designed legally to punish underage users for accessing the site and to protect against legal liability, not to actively prevent underage users from gaining access to the site. Quite frankly, I don't see FA or even IMVU pursuing every underage user for accessing FA. Litigation costs money and these are businesses. Enough said.
Two, a user named Le Chat Necro helped me realize that I was wrong in how I was advancing my case and convinced me to rest it. I would love to hear her opinion on this topic, especially as she is probably the best candidate for moderator I'm currently aware of who has no bans on her record, no scheduling conflicts with her work life, no ties to any political groups with questionable philosophies and practices like Altfurry, and possesses no preferences or proclivities toward cub/child pornography.
She even took the initiative and started a thread about choosing a moderator responsibly, something no other candidate for the job has done. That alone makes her a standout candidate. This is someone who has frequent criticized me for my behavior on this platform and
I still respect her, as do many of you. She is the stuff of moderators.
Speaking of candidates for moderators, there is one user who posted near the beginning of this thread whom in the past criticized me
several times for questioning the wisdom of allowing users under the age of 18 here. This user even said in case where a minor was
violating a court-mandated parole order against visiting like sites this that is was that user's
right to be on this site, completely disregarding US Code. This could have opened this site up to enormous legal scrutiny, especially if he had been a moderator. Now we see this user saying that a NSFW section is a sensible solution when they were against barred those under the age of 18 from the site, probably because they want to establish themselves as a moderator.
This is craven hypocrisy that takes us all for fools.
A NSFW section is a half measure and an unnecessary half measure at best. The site already has maturity filters which were installed at inception under
@Dragoneer 's auspices. They work as long as the moderators make sure user label their artwork appropriately. I feel personally the main site moderators could tighten up on the cub art, but it mostly works. What we need are more moderators with no baggage to do the job right. To a lot of us, Le Chat Necro is one of those moderators.
