@@@ OFFICIAL SUGGESTION THREAD @@@

Firehazard

I can fix it!
how bout this: whenever an artist that you faved has submitted something, or whenever you get a comment or a shout, you get an email notifying you, so you don't have to check the site everyday, HF does this and it works out quite fine, it would make it much more convenient

But... then... wouldn't a lot of people get dozens of emails a day?

Custom RSS feeds make a lot more sense.

Yeah, or only one email about it per day.

I don't know if this has been suggested or not, but I feel that it's good enough that it can be said again.

There needs to be Report Submission and Report User buttons/links on everyone's userpage and on all Submissions.
This way, for instance, when someone is clearly a Troll, and all of their art is stolen, we can click 'Report User' and type in '8D All of this person's art is stolen.' Much like they do on DeviantArt. And, when a piece of work is stolen, we can click 'Report Submission' and then tell briefly why we're reporting it.

This would save a buttload of hassle for both us as users and the mods/admins of the site instead of using Trouble Tickets. Report User/Submission buttons would allow both parties to know exactly what was being reported and why, without having to go through the long and drawn out process of sending in a Ticket, waiting for someone to read it, waiting for them to look into it, waiting to see if they got back to you yet...

Just an idea that I think should seriously be looked into.
What with all the Trolls we have here on FA who simply steal other's work to use as thumbnails to get views... *cough*

Discussed already. The response I remember was they'd like the idea, but they would only give certain trusted users that ability, to keep abuse away.

I get that point, but that seems sort of unfair as well--that's basically like adding more mods (which I suppose they could do).

What if none of these 'trusted users' are on or don't witness the bad behaviour? I suppose we'd have to go to them and report it and wait until they could check it out... which is the same as just opening a trouble ticket and hoping it gets resolved before there's epic amounts of drama or etc.

My counter-attack to that would be--if it gets abused, you punish the abuser as well. Nothing's going to be perfect but there NEEDS to be a better way to report all of these people who just steal artwork, or 'borrow' it in order to get people to view their own submissions. I'm also tired of seeing the many accounts of people who are solely there to troll and get away with it all the time and even have followers.

It's also become rather irksome to see just about anything being able to be submitted to FA--in any category, too. I know organization is probably the least of FA's worries but it just seems like, at this point, that anyone can make an account and abuse the whole site for whatever they want.

It'd also be sorta nice if there was like... a specific section of the forum for these sort of reports... I don't think there is one, as of now?

Here's an Idea. Would really stop trolls too, if you can add like a comment removal for submissions, you can remove shout page comments, why not for submissions? its a real hassle to have to delete everything and reupload and reenter all info for each submission all over again just because someone left you a nasty comment (or couple dozen in my case). Sooo can something be done to add comment removal for submissions? would really like this addon!~

I believe I'm in the right thread...
Anyways, there's an animal filter(or lack thereof) that I've noticed people mentioning on their submissions, but I searched here and it seems no one has suggested anything about it. Our friends the bovidae; you know, the sheep, cows, gazelles and other cloven-hooves. There is no animal filter for these awesome creatures, and it makes me sad. >:

edit: Oops, guess I didn't look hard enough. But the suggestion's in it's own thread, "Cows!," and it's over a year old...

I always had this idea for 'fave reviews', where you could fave a picture, then tack on a review that shows up on your Favorites page so your viewers can see what you said (as opposed to leaving a comment that gets buried under the picture)

I suggested this on DA and all they did was create their abominable 'subscription critiques' thing

What the heck is Ferrox? o: I've been gone a while. What threads do I need to read to get updated? Actually, I think I've seen that mentioned elsewhere. Are they redoing FA?
(maybe I should just search this instead of asking all these questions...)

There are some very revolting people in this forum, and I'm not talking about the ones in chipmunk suits. I've never seen anything like it before. A little clean-up might make the place tolerable

Dear administrative staff,

It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of a beloved artist and friend I understand that it is the custom on this site to block or ban a person's page when they have passed away. I also understand that there are reasons for this, mostly such that other more devious persons will not have the opportunity to impersonate the deceased. However, instead of blocking or banning them, would it be possible to close the account, yet leave it standing?

For example, on other sites, when a person dies, the admin change the account to a special suspended status that says, "beloved dead" or something to that general effect. It lets the viewers know that the member has died, but keeps their art and responses in tact, sort of as a memorial of sorts to be enjoyed by all who are left in their wake.

If it is at all possible for such arrangements to be made, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration of this possibility. It means a lot to so many, thank you.

Automatical remove of deleted favorite entries

Suggestion:

If someone removes his/her pic from the submission list, then the entry should be removed from the favorites list of all users who watched it.
Explanation:

The removed entries are trashing the user gallery with empty icon and signature:

"Submission has been deleted by the owner."

I believe it's an artifact of how the system works love :/

Then this should get become fixed... Most of my gallery is trashed by removed submissions (there it's to much to remove it manually)

Personally, I would love to see that when people delete their journals, it does not come up 'Journal has been deleted' but that it would just disappear.
Also, if they allowed you to delete messeges from your in/outboxes.

Some way to bludgeon users (literally or figuratively) who post comics without using the "<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>" code would be nice. I can think of at least three ways of doing this, but perhaps a better way would be one suggested long ago--a "series" category/option for things of that nature? That way, people would not only be able to navigate the chapters regardless of how lazy the poster is or isn't, they'd also be able to favorite an entire series with just one click.

Or, with a checkbox-and-dropdown combination, something like:

[ ] Part of a series (e.g. comic, multi-chapter story, sequence)

[ Select submission: ]
> (New)
> ${s1}
> ${s2}
...

Somewhat like choosing a Featured Submission, except only with submissions flagged as part of a series.

While I believe I agree wholeheartedly with this, I cannot fully second this motion with such sparse details. Do elaborate, won't you?

What about new staff to handle the supposed "hundreds" of tickets Dragoneer and company claimed in a journal I read? You know, someone in the vein of dave_hyena who deals with these issues to lighten the load off the main staffs' backs?

And with this harassment I've been hearing about and seen, we should simply be allowed to demean/bitch at criminally/controversially infamous furries (Frank Gembeck Jr., Dracoguard, Seux, Allan, etc) who have gotten in trouble with the law or revealed to be a pedo/dogmongler/scammer. It doesn't make sense to "protect" these sorts of folks from on-site harassment, especially if they have brought the problems with them to the site. It makes no sense to protect these types' shoutboxes, especially if they're permabanned.

Unfortunately, that's not likely to happen. According to Carenath, it's "dishonourable" to do so.

Not to go off topic or anything, but what did Seux do to banned? I know who the others that Glaice mention are, just not seux.

I wonder if it's still too soon  (yeah I know it is)

No, This is a horrible idea. It promotes general abuse of the system, and is really just a waste of resources just to make someone feel bad, which they will probably never read your info again.

If you insist, why not just have an explanation in bolded red WHY the user is banned so people don't wonder why a watched user is banned?

And ANOTHER suggestion regarding search...more specific search terms. Say I want to search the terms "diaper" and "diapers" but not have submissions that have one of both of these keywords plus other unpleasant kewords such as "scat" and/or "cub" to it. I would just like to search for those two keywords WITHOUT having submissions with "scat" and "cub" in the search results as well. The same can go for "internal" and "creampie" but also "dragoness" in the search terms without non-dragon species showing up.

I am asking this because in the search page under "Search mods" there is a supposed help page but there's no link to show how "Extended" search works.
