Old laptop isn't reading a CD-ROM

I've recently purchased a laptop with both Windows 98 and Windows 2000 on it. Both systems read one CD-ROM disk (..lion king activity center... don't judge) but not another (some gaming galaxy thing with 300 games). When I put in the CD it doesn't read, it's as if it's not even running at all. I don't hear the disk being spun or anything. I tried googling what could be wrong but I can't really find anything.

What do you think the problem could be..?

Only thing I can think of is the spyware that came with all Galaxy of Games discs could be interfering...
The server is gone so it doesn't do anything any more, but it's still there (and will get picked up by antiviruses)

Also, all those Galaxy of Games titles tend to be shareware anyways so at least you aren't losing out.
Speaking of, I should find a full copy of Speedy Eggbert somewhere... my favorite out of all of those lol

As for the Lion King disc, I assume it isn't running on the Windows 2000 OS, right?
Would make sense. 2000 and ME were pretty crap.
Best operating system you can have before XP on a computer is 98SE.
All that legacy support and none of the programming bottlenecks.

Hmm, I had no idea..You think there's a way I could deactivate that some how??

Best thing you can do to get those games is to find them online elsewhere so they don't come with the spyware.
All of those games are practically demos and can be found elsewhere online.
Many of them should be abandonware and no longer have their copyrights being enforced or renewed.

To think of it though, you could theoretically run the Galaxy of Games disc on the other OS and install it into the Program Files location on the opposite OS install location.
It's a little dirty but it should work.

If you can lick it, it's probably safe

Another thought would be to check the disk type and make sure the drive is compatible. If the machine is running 98 I assume it's vintage, the drive might not support CD-R or DVD or some such.

Also the CD reader might be defective in part. I have a DVD/blue ray but it wont read any blue ray.

So yo can try to get a cd-r or a dvd rom for your old laptop.
