An owls eyes are actual cylindrical and therefore can not move in their sockets meaning they can only look forward. This is why owls rotate their heads so often to see.

Speaking of rotating heads, sloths also have extra vertebrae on their spine, which allow them to turn their heads in a 270 degree angle.
