I don't remember which game this was, but it baffled me when I learned that this was the official response to "why isn't <character> wearing any clothes in combat?"

The first time I played Oblivion as a female character I grabbed a suit of iron armour off an enemy and equipped it. Then I noticed I was showing a lot of leg and assumed I'd failed to put the greaves on. Nope! The full leg greaves are now a tiny bit of metal glued to my left thigh.

That would be Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V.
Having played that game, the explanation behind her wearing little clothing is indeed because she breathes through her skin, since she nearly burned to death and had her lungs and vocal cords destroyed as well. She was then subjected to some shady mutation project that would save her life and give her superhuman powers, but not restore her lost organs, so they just gave her the ability to breathe through her skin instead; hence why she wears almost no clothing.

In short: MGSV's plot and trivia makes little to no sense, Kojima is crazy and was probably just trying to make an excuse to have a female sidekick with suggestive clothing. Go figure.

Well hey at least it gives 78 armor regardless of how much metal they put into the plating, eh?

(and a point :p)

You are going about and committing petty larceny when you notice a mysterious figure approaching. Through the fog of mysterious and convenient origin appears a tiny blue parrotlet. He stares at you for what seems like a small eternity, those beady eyes piercing and probing into the depths of your soul. He then takes a perch next to you and begins preening.

The birb notices your departure and follows, and you begin looting the building separate from each other. After a while, the parrotlet finds the room you're in and flies up to you, carrying someone's credit card and a photo pendant with the photo messily clawed out. He places his haul in front of you and begins bobbing his head.
