Hey, I made it to 1903! We sailed right past 1903. This is what I get for typing a mini essay. Some of you know what this one's gonna be already.

This Last year in aviation history, the airplane is invented as the cumulative results of hundreds of glider flights, groundbreaking research, and untold amounts of blood and sweat. The Wright Flyer, a direct descendant of the Wright Gliders, is given a custom-milled all-aluminum engine (a rarity among internal combustion engines at the time), chain driving two propellers. The original flight is scheduled for December 14, 1903, the 121st anniversary of the Montgolfier Balloon flight, but the Flyer stalls on takeoff and sustains minor damage. The flight attempt that is currently recognized as the first powered, controlled flight in the world happens a couple of days later on December 17, 1903, in a short hop that lasts 120 feet. On this spot today, Kitty Hawk Airfield stands as a general aviation aerodrome containing a single runway spanning 3,000 feet and running along the same track that the Wright Flyer did, a humble but symbolic marker of the birthplace of modern aviation.

Actually, I guess there aren't too many wild guinea pigs out there. Most (basically all) are domesticated at this point lol, so I probably shouldn't talk smack
