Predators and Prey

Hm!
On the correct year this time: This year in aviation (keeping track of pages is hard), Ferdinand von Zeppilin's LZ 2 is destroyed by wind after less than two months of existing and a single flight that ended in a forced landing.

That, some other things, and the first flight of the 14-bis.
I'm no expert when it comes to aviation facts, but it happened.

For those curious, this thing appears to be a protoform of the first production biplanes. It was designed by Brazilian Alberto Santos-Dumont, and was the first publicly demonstrated flight of an airplane outside of the US.

If I recall it correctly, he was the first person to be filmed in a flying airplane.
That and some details about how it flied, comparisons to the Wright Brothers, and some other stuff which I don't recall correctly. Will have to use google to learn more about it.

This year in aviation: The ever-determined Ferdinand von Zeppelin builds the LZ 3. Unlike the ill-fated LZ 2, the LZ3 sets an endurance record for a rigid airship by staying aloft for 8 hours. The British Army's Nulli Secundus is not so lucky. After a public demonstration flight from Farnborough to London, she is first grounded in London due to high winds, and later destroyed by said wind storm. The hull is partially salvaged to build the Nulli Secundus II.
