Times were rough, in 1911. With the predator menace under control, Sammy 'Slick' Skunk went on to open his first gambling hall, amassing enough money to build a larger and more humane Zoo; upon his return to San Francisco, he was greeted by many an eminent philanthropist for his work in helping preserve species which were even then becoming endangered.

That year, he also gained the nickname, Sammy 'Saintly' Skunk.

On September 20 1911 the Olympic was involved in a collision with H.M.S. Hawke. The damage to the Olympic was such that it led to speculation that it was the Olympic that sunk not the Titanic as part of an insurance scam.

Naturally in the wake of the Titanic sinking ocean travel actually became safer, with 24hour manned radio watch, lookouts supplied with the proper equipment to do their jobs, enough lifeboats for all onboard and the establishment of the Ice patrol to monitor and report on iceberg movements in the north Atlantic.
