AAAAAAAAAAAAAA -Sukhoi, 2020

Aww yiss.

This year in aviation history, a partially converted Heinkel He-118 becomes the first jet powered aircraft to take flight. It uses a conventional piston engine and propeller for takeoff, but cruises using a newly developed turbojet engine.

It should be pointed out that the He-118 was an absolutely, appalingly useless failure of an aircraft. It was demonstrated to both the Luftwaffe and the Imperial Japanese Navy as a prospective bomber, where it ended up disintegrating during the flight test both times. Given which side they were on, it's mildly reassuring, but at least it ended up making some useful contribution to aviation as a whole.

the hands were easy but how the hell do I draw legs???
Its not the leg that gives me problems (well apart from an occasional tendency to stumpyness) it's figuring out how to attach the foot.

1939! This year in aviation history, Ernst Heinkel, undeterred by the steaming dumpster fire that was the He-118, presses on and produces the He-178 and He-176 - the first practical pure jet aircraft, and the first rocket plane, respectively. Despite creating a practical, functioning fighter prototype, ze Germans would remain unimpressed by his efforts. A jet powered fighter wouldn't enter service until the trailing end of the war in 1944, in the form of the Messerschmitt Me 262, followed shortly by the Gloster Meteor. The He-176 also wouldn't see production, being cast aside in favour of the Messerschmitt (man, I hate typing that out) Me 163 Komet in 1944.

Oh, we've reached page 1939.
Well, the SS fakes a Polish attack, Hitler then made the well known radio announcement:
"Seit 5:45 wird jetzt zurückgeschossen!"
(Since 5:45 we're firing back!)
