In aviation news this year the British government discuss the feasibility of OR.229, the operational requirement for a new type of bomber to carry a ‘most special bomb’ (atomic). This was approved and became Specification B. 14/46 (later B. 35/46) the plans for a medium range jet bomber. The results of this were ultimately Britain’s ‘V’ force, comprising the Vickers Valiant, The Handley Page Valiant and the Iconic Avro Vulcan.
