I was just finishing up my freshman year in high school. Viet Nam was rollin' on. I missed the 1969 page. I did get to watch the moon landing live. It was an incredible event.

In honor of the ongoing war... Here is the latest Fangcon poster:

Worst thing that happened in 1970? The Beatles break up!

But also in 1970 Black Sabbath releases their second album, Paranoid. It will be one of their greatest and a huge success

Sadly, the anti war movement wasn't always without blood: During protests against the Vietnam War in 1970, four students are shot dead by National Guardsmen on the campus of Kent State University in Ohio, USA.

In Naval history this year, H.M.S. Ark Royal was involved in a collision with a Soviet Kotlin class destroyer. Ark Royal was engaging in in exercises in the Med and the Soviet ship was shadowing the group, during one exercise the Soviet captain swung across the bow of the Ark Royal and suddenly realised 50,000 tons of steel doesn't just stop. The Soviet ship ended up almost capsized and more terrifyingly one of the Ark's anchors was jammed into the magazine of the SA-NA-1 SAM turret, the missiles housed within were notoriously unstable and if they exploded there was a good chance both ships would be destroyed. Fortunately this didn't happen, unfortunately the Soviet ship lost seven crew in the incidence.

(Here's a link to the minuets of the House of Commons discussion about the incidence.)

Hm!
Well, since you guys went ahead and covered pretty much all albums from 1970 I planned to mention, I'll chill until 1971.
...Oh, wait, that's now.

In 1971 we saw the releases of...
*checks list*

'American Pie' by Don McLean
'What's Going On' by Marvin Gaye
'Tapestry' by Carole King
'L.A. Woman' by The Doors
'Aqualung' by Jethro Tull
'Who's Next' by The Who
'Hunky Dory' by David Bowie
'Blue' by Joni Mitchell
'Imagine' by John Lennon
'Sticky Fingers' by The Rolling Stones (the album cover needs some hosing)
'At Fillmore East' by The Allman Brothers Band (the live album that made me like live albums)
Led Zeppelin IV
...and the list goes on and on and on.

Sadly, we lost Duane Allman, Jim Morrison, Igor Stravinsky and Louis Armstrong.

That was a lot for one year (I probably missed a lot of albums/facts), and the 70's have just begun. Yippee!
And now, a reset.
