I have to be honest, I do not know the story of Swissair that good. I was 5 when they went bankrupt ^^
As far as I know, the managers who crashed the airline, got millions of compensation payment. It was cited as a contributing factor. Most of it was management, which I vaguely remember as being super aggressive in acquiring smaller airlines, but SWR111, the travel downturn from 9/11, and the competition from cheaper budget airlines were some other contributing factors.

My family and I were visiting my aunt and uncle who lived Austin at the time. We were on big hill overlooking the city and watched all the fireworks go off1999/2000: A really crazy new years eve spent working as a sommelier at a place viewing the fireworks over the harbor...drank a great deal of the owner's fancy champagne. Nobody was really thinking of Y2K stuff...too busy partying!
